Introduction

The automatic image optimization at WhiteWall is a helpful tool for all customers who have not professionally processed their image file and adjusted its color representation using ICC profiles.

Since November 2022, WhiteWall has been using an advanced AI (Artificial Intelligence) for the optimization, which recognizes the type of motif by scene recognition and presents a customized and optimal suggestion.

Hereby

• contrast and saturation are improved
• Reduces undesired exposures and color casts
• shadow areas are provided with more detail

It is active by default for every photo in our configurator and is provided with an optimization level of 70%. The strength of the optimization can be set individually and comfortably assessed directly in the before - after comparison. 

We recommend leaving this option activated unless you have made your own adjustments for printing or imaging.

Presentation

Simply upload your photo via our website and start your individual processing in our product configurator.

In the options menu, the selection Image Optimization is now available.

Here you are already shown the percentage with which the automatic image optimization has intervened, in this case with the default value of 70%.

The display of your photo in the main window of the configurator already corresponds to the displayed degree of optimization.

Selecting the Image optimization option gives you access to the comparison display and the degree of optimization. 

By default, the variant shown is selected, which displays your original file with the optimized variant side by side.

Via the selection "Split view" you have the display of your original file and the optimization in one and the same image at your disposal. Via the slider you have the possibility to judge a distinction very specifically in a detailed area of your photo and to make adjustments to the optimization if necessary.

The left area of the image always corresponds to your original file, the right area to the optimized variant.

Utilisation

By adjusting the strength you have direct influence on the degree of optimization:

If necessary, make an individual adjustment to the optimization and compare the result across the respective display variants.

The default value of 70% is an optimization level based on empirical values of the AI, which has proven itself in practice for all motif types. You can reset your selection to the default value at any time using the arrow selection next to the percentage.

If you do not want any optimization and would like to deactivate it, simply set the value to 0%. This way, no adjustment of your image file will take place.

Define and safe settings

If you would like to apply your individual setting to all further images in your order, you have the option of saving it using the checkbox displayed.

This setting applies, as indicated, both to your current and all future orders and is permanently stored in your account.

If you have already professionally processed your photos and do not want any optimization in this regard, set the strength of the optimization to 0% and activate the checkbox.

The automatic image optimization is thus deactivated and the setting remains stored in your account.

Shopping cart control

After configuring your photos, you have the option in the shopping cart to finally check the optimization setting for all photos. 

In the compact position view, the automatic image optimization is listed again with the adjustment made in each case.

As usual, you have the option at this point to deactivate image optimization exclusively for this order. Existing customers know this final option in the shopping cart, which is why we continue to offer you this option of deactivation for the current order.

If you have already set your optimization to 0% for all items in the configurator, this note is no longer displayed.

You can reactivate image optimization at any time via individual editing in the configurator.
