INTRODUCTION
WhiteWall’s automatic image optimization is a helpful tool for all customers who have not professionally edited their image files or adjusted color representation using ICC profiles.
Since November 2022, WhiteWall has been using an advanced AI (Artificial Intelligence) for the optimization, which recognizes the type of subject through scene detection and provides a tailored and optimal enhancement suggestion.
This process:
-
Improves contrast and saturation
-
Reduces exposure errors and color casts
-
Enhances shadow details
By default, this feature is active for every photo in our configurator with an optimization level set at 70%. The strength of the optimization can be adjusted individually and conveniently assessed using a before-and-after comparison.
We recommend keeping this option enabled unless you have already made your own adjustments for printing or photo development.
PRESENTATION
Simply upload your photo via our website and begin your individual editing process in our product configurator.
In the options menu, you will now find the Image Optimization selection.
Here, you can see the percentage of automatic image optimization applied—by default, this is set to 70%.
The image displayed in the main window of the configurator already reflects the applied optimization level.
By selecting the Image Optimization option, you gain access to both the comparison view and optimization strength settings.
By default, the displayed variant shows your original file alongside the optimized version.
By selecting "Split View", you can see both the original file and the optimized version within the same image. The slider allows you to assess differences in specific details of your photo and adjust the optimization if needed.
The left side of the image always represents your original file, while the right side shows the optimized version.
APPLICATION
By adjusting the optimization strength, you can directly influence the degree of enhancement:
Customize the optimization as needed and compare the results using the available display options.
The default value of 70% is based on AI experience and has proven effective for all types of subjects. If necessary, you can reset your selection to the default value using the arrow option next to the percentage.
If you do not wish to use image optimization and want to deactivate it, simply set the value to 0%. This ensures that no adjustments are made to your image file.
PERMANENTLY SAVE SETTINGS
If you want to apply your preferred settings to all images in your order, you have two options:
-
IN THE CONFIGURATOR
This can be done via the displayed checkbox in the configurator:
This setting applies to both your current and all future orders and is permanently stored in your account.
If you have already professionally edited your photos and do not require optimization, set the optimization strength to 0% and activate the checkbox. The automatic image optimization will be disabled, and the setting will be saved in your account.
-
IN THE CUSTOMER ACCOUNT
Alternatively, you can permanently save this setting in your customer account under "My Settings":
Here, you can also configure other available optimizations, such as UltraHD sharpening and Superresolution.
CHECK IN THE SHOPPING CART
After configuring your photos, you can review the optimization settings for all images in the shopping cart.
In the compact item overview, the automatic image optimization and any adjustments made will be displayed again.
As usual, you can choose to disable image optimization for this order only at this stage. Existing customers are familiar with this final option in the shopping cart, so we continue to offer this setting for the current order.
If you have already set optimization to 0% for all items in the configurator, this notice will not be shown.
You can reactivate image optimization at any time through the individual editing options in the configurator.
