WhiteWall does not issue fire safety certificates because fire performance depends on the individually combined finished product. Proof is primarily required in public buildings; requirements should be clarified in advance with the operator or fire safety officer.
Does WhiteWall issue fire safety certificates?
No, unfortunately we cannot issue fire safety certificates or classifications of fire performance for our products.
Why are there no fire safety certificates?
Each WhiteWall product is made individually according to your wishes. The image carrier, printing process, mounting, surface, frame, hanging system, and format can be combined freely.
Fire performance always depends on the finished product as a whole—in other words, on the interaction of all materials used. To classify fire performance, each individual variant would therefore have to be tested separately by a recognized testing institute. Such documentation—such as a test certificate or classification report assigning the product to a building material or fire performance class—always applies only to the product tested. Unfortunately, this is not feasible given the large number of possible combinations.
When is documentation of fire performance required?
As a rule, this is not relevant in private homes. Documentation is primarily required in publicly accessible buildings and special structures, such as assembly venues or trade shows. In Germany, for example, the assembly venue regulations of the federal states stipulate that decorations must be at least flame-retardant, and even noncombustible in required corridors and stairwells (§ 33 VStättVO). Austria and Switzerland have their own national and cantonal regulations, respectively.
The operator generally determines which specific requirements apply at your location as part of its fire protection plan.
Additional information
- Classification: Across Europe, the fire performance of building materials is classified according to DIN EN 13501-1 (fire performance classes A1 to F). In Germany, the older classification of building materials according to DIN 4102-1 is still sometimes used, for example B1 for “flame-retardant.”
- Clarify requirements in advance: Before placing your order, please clarify with the operator, the responsible authority, or the fire safety officer which requirements apply at your location.
- Personal consultation: Our Customer Service team will be happy to help with any questions about our materials.
