The dimensions for designing the cover and content pages can be viewed directly on our website. In the Coffee Table Book section, click on "Create now" and select "PDF upload" in the next window. Then configure the properties of your desired Coffee Table Book and click "Start creating." On the next page, all relevant dimensions, including bleed, will be displayed based on the previously entered product properties.
DOWNLOAD PDF EXPORT SETTINGS
After completing the steps above, the export settings, known as "Job Options," are available for download. These PDF export settings for Adobe InDesign ensure that the correct settings are applied when exporting to PDF.
COVER AND CONTENT PAGE TEMPLATE
If you are using Adobe InDesign or Affinity Publisher for layout, you can download the templates for the cover and content pages in IDML format here. The page format, as well as the bleed and safety areas, are marked in the file.
The Affinity Publisher tutorial also provides a good overview and helpful information about bleed and safety areas. You can find the tutorial here.
DESIGN
The cover must be created as a double-page spread, while the content pages should be provided in a second PDF file as continuous single pages. For content pages, no bleed should be added on the binding side, as the pages are seamlessly joined together during production. Only three edges of the content pages should have a bleed (top, bottom, right/left).
If you add extra content pages, be sure to maintain the correct pagination. The WhiteWall Coffee Table Book always requires additions in increments of 4 pages.
Also, note that adding or removing content pages, or changing the paper type, will affect the spine width, thereby altering the cover dimensions. You can check these dimensions on whitewall.com as described above and download a new template if needed.
Here is an example of how the dimensions for a cover and content pages PDF are output:
